School Services Program

School Counseling Services

Wellness school counseling service is here to become a partner with the school in handling students with behavior, social, emotional and academic challenges. School counseling offers students the opportunity to talk to someone who will listen in a supportive and non-judgemental manner. Counselors will help students clarify issues, explore feelings and discuss problem-solving strategies and set their own goals.

We offer short term individual treatment (a maximum of 12 sessions per academic year), but the duration of the treatment is decided on an individual basis.

After the initial consultation with parents and teachers, the counselor will decide on a treatment plan. The plan will include parents coaching and support system for the teachers. Sometimes long-term or specialized treatment is indicated, our counselor will help students find appropriate referrals in the community

Common reasons students seek counseling: depression, anxiety, stress, academic struggle, adjustment to school and parents expectation, self-esteem, addiction, relationship issues, and family concerns.

School Psychological & Educational Assessment Service

Wellness Psychological Assessment Service has a long history of providing a broad range of testing services to school-age children and youth for schools and individual. Common referrals include: IQ testing, giftedness testing, educational testing for learning disabilities, neuropsychological testing of executive functioning, memory, and attention, second opinions, and assessment of personality and behavioral functioning. We provide comprehensive evaluations for elementary, middle school and high school age children.

A psychological evaluation can address:

  • Strengths and weaknesses in intellectual development
  • Interest and Talent (Minat dan Bakat)
  • Developmental delays, intellectual or social disabilities
  • Strengths and weakness in basic academic skills and learning
  • Problems in neuropsychological functioning such as inattention, memory or executive functioning
  • Problems with behavioral adjustment or emotional functioning such as depression or anxiety

Our evaluations include highly detailed and individualized recommendations that can be used by parents, clinicians, and school to determine school placement, develop an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) or interest and career exploration. We also provide services to develop strategies for behavior management within the home and school.

Types of Assessments

Wellness Psychological Assessment Service considers the whole child, the family, school, and community in the evaluation process. During the evaluation process, an individualized testing plan is designed by the evaluator, based on the unique needs of the child or adolescent and the questions to be answered within the evaluation. Types of Assessment:

INTELLIGENCE TESTING: We conduct a thorough evaluation of a student’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses, which can include assessing developmental delays, intellectual giftedness, intellectual disabilities, kindergarten readiness, language and communication skills, nonverbal reasoning skills, and processing speed.

ACHIEVEMENT TESTING: Educational testing examines academic achievement in order to determine the student’s skill level in areas of reading, mathematics and writing. The psychoeducational assessment can determine the student’s academic strengths and determine if the student has a specific learning disability such as dyslexia. Academic testing results lead to detailed educational recommendations that can be used to create Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for Special Education, and well as general educational planning.

NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING: Neuropsychological assessments include testing in the areas of memory and attention skills, including testing for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The testing can also include assessment of executive functioning such as planning and organizational skills.

SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL AND PERSONALITY EVALUATION: Assessments may include evaluation of the student’s behavioral, emotional, and social skills which may affect a child or adolescent’s functioning at home and at school. We can include measures of depression, anxiety and adaptive skills in the testing.

Professional Development for Teachers

High-quality professional learning is one of the cornerstones of an effective school. It enables staff to develop the skills and knowledge they need to improve their practice and is central to improving student learning.

Like the members of other professions, teachers need to be continuous learners who see their own learning as being fundamental to membership of the profession rather than something that is incidental or optional.

There is a range of professional learning programs and resources available for teachers
